Job Description

This position requires a Master Barge Commander to oversee the safe transportation of barges and ensure crew safety.

The successful candidate will perform administrative tasks, supervise crew members, and direct them in performing drills and other duties.

Responsibilities include standing wheelhouse watches, assigning lookouts, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, preparing work lists, and purchasing food for the crew.

The ideal candidate must have previous experience as a captain onboard a tugboat, hold a valid Coast Guard license with a radar observer endorsement, and possess a first aid/CPR certificate.

A valid state driver's license and ability to read, speak, and understand English are also required.

The selected individual will be expected to adapt to various schedules, work weekends, holidays, and night shifts.

They must be physically fit to perform tasks such as pulling heavy lines, lifting, carrying heavy items, climbing onto barges, and bending/twisting during boat/barge tie-ups.


Estimated Salary

The estimated salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $120,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
