Nutrition Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Nutrition Specialist to join our team at Memorial Hospital of Gardena. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive nutrition assessments and care planning for patients with special needs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dietetics and excellent communication skills. Your ability to work independently and collaborate with the team will be essential in delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Direct dietary care of patients with special needs, ensuring their nutritional needs are met and customer satisfaction levels are achieved.
• Educate medical staff on proper nutritional care and counsel patients/residents and their families on nutrition-related matters.
• Collaborate with culinary and clinical departments to ensure smooth processes, special diets, and menu requests are handled efficiently.
• Stay current with the latest nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as policies and procedures related to quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel.
• Establish operating standards, implement quality improvements, and communicate them to other departments.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in food and nutrition/Dietetics or related field preferred.
• Current Registered Dietitian (RD) certification from the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR) or eligibility to take the exam within 3 months.
• Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, preferred.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience.
