Breastfeeding Specialist

Job Summary:

The Breastfeeding Specialist will educate women, families, and healthcare professionals about breastfeeding and human lactation, facilitating the development of policies that protect, promote, and support breastfeeding. This role will act as an advocate for breastfeeding as the child-feeding norm and provide holistic, evidence-based breastfeeding support and care from preconception to weaning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for breastfeeding mothers and their babies in collaboration with primary nurses.
• Provide direct patient care and education to selected patients and serve as a resource and educator to staff nurses.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to achieve excellent patient care and nursing practice.

Requirements:

• BSN required or completed as per contract by VP/AVP.
• Certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
