Lead Electrician

At the California Institute of Technology, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Electrician to join our team. As a key member of our electrical department, you will be responsible for overseeing electrical projects and ensuring that they are completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Estimate, plan, and organize electrical projects for campus customers
• Inspect installations for quality, adherence to electrical code, safety, and budget
• Participate in evaluating shop employee's training and progress
• Provide leadership to support personnel and respond to time-urgent requests from campus customers and the electric shop crew
• Assume duties of supervisor when supervisor is on vacation or otherwise not available

Requirements:

• Minimum of eight years of senior journeyman level experience in the electrical industry
• California Electrician Certification
• Familiarity with electrical codes and proficiency in the use of the NEC code book
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email software
• Valid California Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5 years of work experience in a university or facilities setting
• Proficiency with automated work order system and timekeeping application
• Familiarity with asset management software
