Job Summary

Cayuga Health System is seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist Supervisor to oversee laboratory personnel, implement processes, and ensure accurate and timely test results. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical technology, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the implementation of new tests and platforms, and analyze and test specimens to ensure accurate results.
  • Supervise laboratory personnel, including training, competencies, and performance reviews, to ensure acceptable levels of analytic performance.
  • Utilize complex information systems and middleware to collect and interpret data, including quality control.
  • Maintain adequate inventory, conserve resources, and operate, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Coordinate staff training, competencies, and performance reviews, and maintain a compliant environment, including adherence to all lab and hospital procedures, NYS, TJC, HIPAA standards, and infection control/safety guidelines.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (or equivalent) and registered as a Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist by American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent.
  • Licensure: Meets NYS Department of Health requirements and is currently licensed as a Clinical Lab Scientist.
  • Previous hospital laboratory experience is preferred.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes.
Physical Requirements

May require light lifting and carrying, including boxes, equipment, stooping, and kneeling. Repetitive use of hands (e.g., computer keyboard usage), sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time is often necessary; must be able physically to operate automation used in the job.
