Job Summary:

The School Nurse RN is responsible for providing health services to students, including care of the sick and injured, health education programs, and individual conferences with parents, teachers, and pupils.

The nurse maintains current cumulative health records, conducts vision and hearing screenings, and refers students with possible defects to parents for evaluation by their family doctor.

They assist teachers in making adjustments to students' programs and confer with students and parents regarding health problems.

The School Nurse RN also assists in the prevention and control of communicable diseases, provides emergency care and first aid, and keeps information available for health-related occupational fields.

They conduct or plan inservice health education programs for teachers, attend health-oriented workshops, and maintain an adequate supply of health equipment and materials.

The nurse coordinates family living programs, assists teachers in establishing special programs on drug education and other health topics, and files necessary state documents concerning immunization compliance.

They participate cooperatively with the administrator in the evaluation process and perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Superintendent.

Qualifications:
Must hold RN license or MD license and PEL (Professional Educator License) endorsed in School Nursing.

Experience:
Experience developing care plans for students with medical needs.
