Kaiser Permanente is a leading health care provider seeking an Optometrist Assistant to support medical professionals in their daily tasks.

About the Job

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in a back office clinical setting, directly supporting a medical provider. Alternatively, completion of an accredited clinical assistant program and willingness to participate in on-the-job training in Kaiser Permanente's Optometry training program would be considered.

Job Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Assist doctors of optometry with patient examinations, record medical and visual histories, and prepare other clinical information as required.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Manage doctor schedules, book appointments, and coordinate patient optometric care with other departments and services.
  • Instrument Maintenance: Ensure diagnostic and therapeutic instruments are clean and accurate, arrange for repairs and recalibration as necessary.
  • Communication: Respond to patient concerns, resolve or forward them to the proper person or area for resolution.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (e.g., healthcare administration, business) or equivalent experience;
  • At least one year of experience in a clinical setting or completion of an accredited clinical assistant program;
  • Paraoptometric Technician Certificate within 24 months of hire from American Optometric Association or equivalent certification;
  • Ability to travel to various locations as required.
