Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team at Advocate Health. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the growth and success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage patients with acute, critical, and chronic illnesses, providing comprehensive care and treatment plans.
- Conduct thorough medical histories, physical examinations, and assessments to determine differential diagnoses and develop effective treatment strategies.
- Prescribe medication, therapy, and treatments as necessary, and consult with physicians as appropriate.
- Interpret and evaluate patient data to determine management and treatment plans, and perform minor surgeries and routine procedures.
- Adjust patient care plans by reviewing and monitoring treatments and therapy plans, and counsel patients on physical and mental health, including diet, preventive health measures, and health behaviors.
- Provide care coordination, including managing ancillary services, pre-operative plans, discharge planning, provider referrals, and medical devices.
- Prescribe, recommend, and regulate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies across multiple care settings.
- Prepare, dictate, and sign patient care plans and summaries, and maintain records according to established standards and guidelines.
- Provide clinical direction to nursing staff and follow through to ensure patient care is delivered effectively.
Licenses and Certifications
- Physician Assistant license issued by the state in which the caregiver practices.
- Physician Assistant (PA-C) certification issued by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the caregiver practices, and Nurse Practitioner (ANCC) certification issued by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or Nurse Practitioner (AANP) certification issued by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant, and Master's Degree in Nursing.
- 7 or more years of experience working as a NP or PA in Primary Care, with the ability to FLOAT or travel to any clinic in Wisconsin that needs operational coverage.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated high level of clinical proficiency and excellent decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and as an effective member of a healthcare team, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and twist continuously throughout the workday.
- Must have functional speech, vision, touch, and hearing.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
- Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs of force, perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present, and be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards, as well as blood and body fluids.
