Job Summary

Morris Group, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our financial operations team, you will be responsible for leading the implementation of best-in-class policies and procedures within the Accounts Payable department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement guidelines for proper handling and coding of invoices to maintain accurate general ledger expense accounts and inventory records.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payments by reviewing and reconciling accounts payable totals and general ledger records.
  • Evaluate existing financial processes and identify opportunities for streamlining and automation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the AP and related departments.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Analyze expense reports and other invoices for accuracy and eligibility for payment.
  • Verify payments before management signature is added by reviewing checks and vouchers.
  • Reconcile accounts payable total and general ledger with other applicable records.
  • Ensure proper recordkeeping of purchases for use in tax preparation and periodic audits.
  • Ensure employer identification numbers or social security numbers have been collected from all vendors for the payables clerk to prepare and submit 1099s.
  • Ensure proper maintenance, filing, and storage of records in case of audits.
  • Coordinate audit requirements for external auditors (financial and tax related).
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • Confirmed experience in Accounts Payables, with a focus on process improvement.
  • Direct supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
