Job Title: Teacher Candidate Supervisor

At the University of Kansas, we are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Teacher Candidate Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our Department of Curriculum & Teaching, you will play a vital role in supporting the development of our teacher candidates.

Job Summary:

The Teacher Candidate Supervisor will be responsible for providing guidance and support to teacher candidates as they develop their teaching skills and competencies. This will involve observing and evaluating teaching performance, providing feedback and suggestions for improvement, and promoting positive working relationships among teacher candidates, clinical supervisors, and school administrators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Observe and evaluate teaching performance
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for improvement
  • Promote positive working relationships among teacher candidates, clinical supervisors, and school administrators
  • Communicate regularly with teacher candidates and clinical supervisors
  • Document plan of action/interventions used to assist teacher candidates in improving skills
  • Grade teacher candidates' work submitted online and provide feedback
  • Act as a critical resource for teacher candidates as they face the challenges of teaching

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Education or other field appropriate to subject area
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant PK-12 teaching or administrative experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and university faculty
  • Knowledge of working with multicultural populations
  • Current teaching license
  • Ability to travel to multiple school settings within a 50-mile radius of Lawrence, KS

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience observing and evaluating teaching performance
  • Basic technology knowledge including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Canvas
