Job Title: IT Application Development Manager

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled IT Application Development Manager to lead our technical resources in providing application support and development to our Marketing business lines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide operational leadership, guidance, and financial oversight for the IT CSS Application Development team.
  • Set technical priorities, remove obstacles, and provide technical leadership for developers.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Interact with business management and end-users to establish relationships and communicate technical solutions.
  • Oversee system applications to ensure security compliance and optimum performance.
  • Ensure the success of new development efforts, enhancements, and efficiency of existing system applications.
  • Participate in solution design, including integration efforts, and collaborate with the Solution Architect.
  • Work closely with the Product Owner and team on Sprint activities and provide recommendations on refining or splitting user stories.
  • Ensure all development projects are within scope, budget, objectives, schedules, and resources.
  • Achieve accuracy, quality, timeliness, and user satisfaction by managing the prescribed software development life cycle.
  • Work with management on strategic planning, identifying new systems applications projects, and establishing priorities.
  • Responsible for establishing and supporting the applications development environment, including methodology, standards, tools, performance criteria, and design principles.
  • Enhance operating efficiencies and metrics, improve customer satisfaction, and improve financial performance.
  • Coach and counsel employees on performance, set performance standards, recommend pay actions, and be responsible for other HR actions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) is a plus.
  • Seven (7) years or more experience in Application Development and IT Project Management.
  • Possess strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to lead, train, and develop a self-directed workforce.
  • Superior interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.
  • Strong analytical/technical and problem-solving/troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated successfully implementing change/improvements.
  • Strong sense of personal accountability and a proven track record of achieving desired results.
  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization.
  • Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment.

  • Works with reporting systems to pull data for analysis and decision-making.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of full software development life cycle; expert level.
  • Extensive technical and professional knowledge; expert level.
  • In-depth knowledge of Agile/SCRUM framework and working experience in the traditional SCRUM ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Demos, and Sprint Retrospectives, along with the corresponding tools used to manage the process; expert level.
  • Extensive experience in developing applications with several technologies, including .Net, SOA architecture, SOAP/REST, SQL Server, Responsive UI frameworks.
  • Extensive experience in web application development and support.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure.
  • Awareness of programming standards and protocols; intermediate level.
  • Excellent knowledge of program coding techniques, file access methods, testing techniques, and documentation methods; advanced level.
  • Knowledge of architecture and infrastructure required to support Mainframe applications; intermediate level.
  • Experience with Content Management Systems, with familiarity with Optimizely CMS and Optimizely applications preferred.

Salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data/ranges, applicant's skills, prior relevant experience, certain degrees or certifications, etc. The salary for this position ranges from $120,000.00 to $140,000.00. Employees may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, as applicable.
