Veterinary Care Specialist

The Veterinary Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the highest quality care for pets at Banfield Pet Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing exceptional patient care, educate clients on pet health, and maintain a safe and efficient hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support Veterinary Team: Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing quality care for pets, including preparing procedures, monitoring hospitalized pets, and maintaining accurate medical records.
- Client Education: Educate clients on pet health, Optimum Wellness Plans, and hospital services, ensuring they understand their pet's needs and receive the best possible care.
- Medical Charting: Obtain relevant information from clients, maintain accurate medical charts, and ensure all necessary documentation is completed.
- Safety and Efficiency: Utilize safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and maintain clean, sterile, and organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs to ensure a safe and efficient hospital environment.
- Mentorship and Training: Mentor other paraprofessionals in the hospital, providing guidance and support to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their roles.
- Education and Experience: Certificate of completion from a NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant program or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Skills and Abilities: Ability to multi-task, communicate effectively, and work in a fast-paced environment; strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Work Environment: Ability to work in a hospital setting, exposed to various pets, and occasional exposure to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication/controlled substances.
