Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Life Safety Technician to join our team at Conroe Independent School District. As a Life Safety Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing the District's Life Safety equipment related to school facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain, repair, and service fire alarm equipment, including fire alarm panels, smoke detectors, and devices related to fire alarm systems.
  • Analyze system drawings and schematics to ensure compliance with building, fire, and electrical codes.
  • Apply fire alarm product knowledge to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Perform pulling of wires in race ways and operate power tools as needed.
  • Attend training programs related to service of fire alarm equipment to stay up-to-date on the latest technologies and techniques.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the Lead Life Safety Technician.
  • Keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition and perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Operate equipment according to established safety procedures and ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
  • Install, maintain, and service electronics, amplifiers, speakers, scoreboards, sound systems, and other equipment related to low voltage technology.
  • Respond to emergency calls as needed and be on-call/stand-by as assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintain confidentiality and regular attendance.
Requirements
  • One year of experience in fire alarm maintenance, repair, and service of fire alarm panels, smoke detectors, and devices related to fire alarm systems in commercial buildings or school facilities.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Texas Certified Licensed Fire Alarm Technician or obtain within one year of employment date
  • Training courses in fire alarm service technology
  • Valid Texas driving license
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Basic computer skills in database, word processor, and spreadsheet applications and programming for fire alarm equipment systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material related to fire alarm systems
  • Must be capable of operating power tools
  • Must be able to follow instructions and willing to learn
  • Must be able to work at elevated heights on ladders or lifts up to 50 feet and access flat rooftops up to 3 stories in height.
  • Intermediate understanding of building, fire, and electrical codes, fire and security systems, access or other building or electronic control systems and electrical installation practices and requirements.
