Deputy Director of Labor Relations and Employee Engagement

As a key member of our Human Resources team, the Deputy Director of Labor Relations and Employee Engagement plays a vital role in promoting positive employee relations, resolving workplace conflicts, and ensuring compliance with labor laws.
Key Responsibilities- Labor Relations:
- Analyze and resolve complex labor disputes, negotiate collective bargaining agreements, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Cultivate strong relationships with university leaders, managers, and union representatives to promote effective communication and problem-solving.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills among employees and management.
- Provide guidance on employment laws, including FLSA, EEOC, and ADA, to ensure informed decision-making.
- Employee Engagement:
- Design and deliver training programs to promote constructive communication, collaboration, and problem-solving among employees and management.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve employee morale, engagement, and retention.
- Partner with HR colleagues to develop and implement policies and procedures related to employee relations, benefits, and compensation.
- Serve as a liaison between employees, management, and HR to address workplace concerns and issues.
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum 11 years of progressively responsible experience in labor relations, human resources, or a related field.
- 8 years of experience in designated specialization (labor relations); 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to navigate complex labor laws and regulations.
- Experience with negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution techniques.
The Deputy Director of Labor Relations and Employee Engagement will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders. Strong organizational and time-management skills are essential for success in this role.
This position requires a Master's degree or equivalent experience. Salary: $110,000 - $130,000 per year.
