Job Title: ACT Mental Health Wellness Specialist

Job Summary:

Spectrum Health & Human Services is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate ACT Mental Health Wellness Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our integrated team, you will provide individualized services to clients, promoting recovery, hope, and empowerment while focusing on integration within their communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge and demonstration of agency core values in day-to-day activities
  • Knowledge of relapse prevention and coping skills for dealing with symptoms of psychiatric disability and substance use disorders
  • Ability to work with a diverse population
  • Knowledge of Advanced Directives
  • Recovery-Oriented by building on strengths and empowerment utilizing multiple pathways to recovery
  • Basis knowledge of self-help techniques, self-help group process to facilitate groups and how to access these services within communities
  • Ability to develop and outline safety and relapse prevention plans
  • Basic knowledge of the mental health service delivery systems and of client rights in that system
  • Basic knowledge of human service delivery systems and entitlement programs
  • Ability to verbally engage and empathize with recipients based on common experience
  • Relationship-focused by being respectful, empathic, and collaborative
  • Ability to be patient, encouraging and supportive
  • Ability to teach skills to individuals and monitor application of those skills
  • Person-Centered by demonstrating the ability to personalize goals aligned with specific hopes, preferences while responding to specific needs of the individual being served
  • Ability to assertively advocate for clients and negotiate with service providers
  • Responsible for providing Wellness Self-Management services, which are designed to improve community functioning and prevent relapse
  • Provide person-centered recovery-oriented practices that provide knowledge and skills to help individuals enhance personal wellness and develop resiliency; skills training; and assisting individuals to make informed decisions to improve their quality of life
  • Trauma-informed by utilizing a strength-based framework focusing on overall health/wellness
  • Frequent or occasional driving of personal vehicle for purpose of transporting clients in the community and/or site visits (client or work related)

Requirements:

  • Must be trained in the following areas within six (6) months of hire:
  • Communications, Ethics/Boundaries, Listening, Advocacy, Mutual Support/Natural Supports (Above trainings are available through OMH webinar)
  • Other training required is part of the ACT Core Trainings: Benefits/Social Security, AOT/Forensics WRAP, Wellness Self-Management, Recovery
  • Must be proficient in the use of computers, email, cellular phones, all Microsoft Office Products and iPhone applications

Education and Experience:

  • Must possess bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or related field
  • Must have experience with public mental health services as well as the community
  • Must be able to promote overall health & wellness and assist in educating and facilitating health living
  • Must have two (2) years minimum experience with using and facilitating self-help groups or working/volunteering in an advocacy role
  • At least 2 years of providing services for individuals with behavioral health barriers
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, and possess a personal vehicle for job requirement

Compensation: $20.08/hr - $25.60/hr
