Confocal Sales Specialist

Leica Microsystems is a global leader in the fields of microscopy, imaging, and analysis. We are seeking a highly skilled Confocal Sales Specialist to join our team in the San Francisco Bay Area, covering the Northern California and Hawaii region. This role will be fully remote, with a requirement to spend 70%+ of time visiting customers in the SF Bay Area and occasional overnight travel.

Responsibilities:
  • Create and close large value opportunities of $250K - $2M by conducting sales calls, following up on sales leads, attending trade shows, and building relationships with academic institutions and biotech/biopharma accounts.
  • Manage sales pipeline and analyze sales in assigned territory using Sales Force.Com and MS Excel.
  • Perform product presentations to scientific audiences.
  • Perform product demonstrations of highly technical instruments, often using the customers' samples, which vary in complexity and quality of preparation.
  • Partner with other Sales Specialists, Sales Managers, Customer Service Representatives, Service Engineers, Marketing Managers, and Channel Partners to satisfy customers' needs.
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of microscopy experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Experience with Confocal or Widefield Microscopy is required.
  • Sales experience in selling products of a technical nature is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of the microscopy market is also highly desirable.
  • A Bachelor's degree is required, MS, or PhD degree in physics, biology, chemistry, or a related scientific field is preferred.

The base salary range for this role is $110,000 - $150,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
