Swim Coach

As a Swim Coach with the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA, you will play a vital role in the development and success of our competitive swim team. Under the guidance of the Director of Competitive & Developmental Swimming, Head Swim Coach, and/or the Center Aquatics Director, you will assist with all aspects of planning and preparation for the team.

You will work closely with the Head Swim Coach to develop and implement workouts, trainings, and season plans. Your responsibilities will include leading supervised structured practices and/or dry land trainings, ensuring attendance is documented, and evaluating swimmer ability/performance to plan strategies for their improvement.

You will also assist in coordinating and executing swim team competitions and meet registrations, attend specified competitions, training, and/or special events as directed by the Head Swim Coach or Director of Competitive & Developmental Swimming. Additionally, you will develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies for athletes in the program.

As a Swim Coach with the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA, you will be expected to follow all safety recommendations and guidelines per Tampa YMCA policies and USA Swimming. You will also communicate program information effectively and in a timely manner to supervisors, participants, and their families.

Establishes and maintains a team attitude, and encourages good sportsmanship for athletes and parents. Attend all required staff meetings.

Education/Experience Required:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma preferred.
• A Minimum 2+ years of experience coaching swimming or 2+ years in competitive swimming.
• Knowledge of USA regulations and safety requirements.

Certifications/Trainings Required:

• Must obtain within 30 days of employment and maintain current certifications in BLS CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration.
• USA Swimming Coaching Certification required.
