Job Title: Automation Systems Design Lead

Location: Columbus, OH

About the Role

The Automation Systems Design Lead is a key position in our commercial mechanical construction projects. This role involves designing and engineering building automation systems (BAS) from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Develop Control Systems: Our ideal candidate will lead the complete design of control systems, ensuring alignment with project specifications and mechanical systems requirements.
  • DDC and PLC System Development: The successful candidate will develop complex DDC (Direct Digital Controls) and PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems to meet project goals. They will create user-friendly graphical interfaces for end-users.
  • Commissioning and Start-Up: Oversee the start-up and commissioning processes for building control systems, managing technician work plans and processes to ensure efficient execution.
  • Project Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, including updating drawing sets, software programs, and as-built documentation. Engineer field changes as necessary.
  • Project Management: Perform essential project management tasks such as creating job plans, scheduling labor, conducting fiscal analyses, and coordinating project materials. Manage foreign protocol integration and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Requirements:

  • Control Programming Skills: Advanced understanding of and skills in creating control programs. Strong knowledge of DDC Theory and Applications.
  • Analysis and Communication Skills: Proven ability to analyze complex information, data, and situations effectively. Exceptional interactive and communication skills, capable of conveying technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Troubleshooting and Technical Skills: Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve issues independently. Skilled in the use of AutoCAD and other project-related software. Familiarity with Bluebeam, MS Project, Trimble AutoBid, and Autodesk software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Education and Experience: Engineering undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer programming experience and building mechanical systems experience are required.
  • Local Work Experience: Demonstrated history of stable and local work experience.

Salary Estimate: $85,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience.
