Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Sr. Professional Staff Nurse, Weekend Option to join our team at Main 5, a 29-bed acute care medical unit dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to a diverse adult and geriatric patient population.

What We Offer- Generous Sign-On Bonus: up to $20,000 (amount and eligibility based on type of nursing role and candidate experience)

The Senior Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and a member of the care delivery team responsible for setting the standards for the level and quality of care. This role requires independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members to manage and provide patient care activities.
This position involves working 48 weekends per year, 24 hours per weekend, between Friday 3:00 pm through Monday 7:00 am, as part of the UPMC Weekend Program.
Responsibilities- Nursing Process: applies the nursing process within the framework of Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment, formulating daily goals and a plan of care for patients that involves the patient as partner and considers the individual needs of the patient in a holistic manner
- Patient Documentation: practices solid communication skills, able to articulate and translate the patient's condition to other care providers, and negotiate and make recommendations for changes in patient care and unit practices
- Quality Improvement: identifies opportunities for clinical quality as well as workplace improvement, applies evidence-based practice as a regular aspect of professional practice, and serves on or leads teams that launch innovations in patient care or support a healthy workforce
- Leadership and Development: demonstrates a passion for developing others, precepts students, graduate nurses, and new hires, analyzes clinical and behavioral situations, identifying learning opportunities to improve patient care practices, and seeks feedback on performance and applies continuous professional improvement
- Licensure: current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located
- Certification: UPMC approved nursing certification preferred; annual completion of a professional contributions selected from department, hospital, or system goals, and approved by Unit Director OR UPMC approved nursing certification required within 1 year of hire/transfer and must be maintained
- Education: minimum 2 years experience; BSN preferred; Master's degree in a related field may be substituted in lieu of Certification
- Skills and Qualifications: ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families; ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities, and specialized equipment
