Critical Care Physician Assistant Job Description

At Highmark Health, we are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our critical care team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in critical care and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:

Identify and manage medical problems within the Physician Assistant's scope of practice in a critical care setting.

Provide appropriate patient care, including completing daily patient care rounds, recording patient medical history and physical assessment, developing a plan of care, ordering diagnostic tests, interpreting test results, and coordinating discharge plans.

Accurately document critical care in the electronic medical record.

Perform compliant billing of critical care services as and where appropriate.

Participate in education process for trainees, including PA fellows, as and where appropriate.

Communicate with attending physician regarding plan of care and involve physician in clinical decision making of any issues that are outside the Physician Assistant's knowledge base or scope of practice.

Prepare written prescription orders for drugs as defined in the written agreement between the PA and the supervising physician(s).

Educate patients and family members regarding health and illness prevention, medication and treatment instructions, and recommend community resources as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree

Current PA Physician Assistant License or board eligible and must obtain within 90 days of employment.

ACLS certification.

CPR – American Heart Association

Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate

Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
