**Job Overview**

The National World War II Museum is seeking a highly skilled Senior Historian and Research Specialist to join its team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the preservation and education of World War II history.

About the Position:

We are looking for an experienced historian with expertise in World War II-era history. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in American or Military history, museum science, or a related field, and at least two years' experience in historical research within a graduate program, museum, archive, or historical society environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach in the Museum's Masters in WWII Studies and Continuing Education Programs in partnership with Arizona State University (ASU).
  • Conduct research and writing in response to member and patron requests within the Museum's WWII Research Services program and in support of the mission of the POW/MIA Accounting Agency.
  • Maintain liaison to the National Personnel Records Center (National Archives, NARA) in St. Louis, MO, and cultivate deep understanding of NARA procedures.
  • Conduct archival research and coordination both within the NWWIIM collection and outside locations to support the development and delivery of educational courses, higher education workshops, and public programs.
  • Support the content team for the development and update of exhibits and online content, conducting documentary, secondary, and archival research as required.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • PhD in American or Military history, museum science, or a related field.
  • Experience in historical research – preferably within a graduate program, museum, archive, or historical society environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of World War II-era history.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills.
