Job Summary

We are seeking a Fish Processing Specialist to join our team at North Pacific Seafoods in Sitka, AK. As a key member of our processing team, you will be responsible for performing various manual labor tasks involved in the processing of seafood products.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment where you will have the chance to develop your skills and experience in the fishing industry. Our processor wage plan offers pay increases based on the total number of hours worked, with opportunities to accumulate hours towards pay increases over time.

Responsibilities
  • Offload product from vessels; sort, butcher, clean, weigh, cut, fillet, trim, inspect, and box various seafood products;
  • Operate plant machinery, a forklift or pallet jack;
  • Inspect product; load product, boxes, pallets, or carts of product into or out of freezers or refrigerated vans;
  • Prepare packaging materials; guide product into automated machinery;
  • Clean or sanitize the work area;
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications:

  • Be 17+ years old (locals who do not live in the bunkhouse) or 18+ (to live in the bunkhouse);
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.;
  • Willing and able to perform physical, standing work for up to 16 hours per day, seven days per week;
  • Process, touch, and be in close proximity of seafood products;
  • Work in cold, wet, loud plants with strong seafood odors;
  • Work safely around moving machinery, forklifts, vehicles, and elevated walkways;
  • Use hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders repetitively;
  • Safely lift up to 50 pounds;
  • Possess visual acuity and tactile dexterity to perform processing tasks;
  • Demonstrate prompt and reliable attendance;
  • Follow verbal and/or written directions;
  • Physically evacuate the area in a swift manner in case of an emergency;

Compensation

The estimated salary for this role is between $18.06 and $18.50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
