Arcadis is seeking a skilled Traffic Engineer to join our transportation team in Ohio. As a leading global consultancy, we deliver sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets.

As a client-facing traffic engineer, you will oversee traffic signal design, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with clients throughout the project lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and managing the scope of each traffic signal design task, creating schedules, and establishing budgets.
  • Providing regular written and verbal updates on project status to the project manager, including reporting on project milestones, risks, and issues.
  • Presenting technical results and recommendations to clients, utilizing your expertise in traffic engineering.
  • Leading the project team in preparing traffic engineering plans, including signal designs, signing and marking designs, conceptual designs for intersections, or Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) designs.
  • Coordinating with subject matter experts, such as surveyors and roadway designers, to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
  • Working with client managers and operational leaders to develop strategies and plans for pursuing new projects.
  • Conducting and documenting traffic studies following nationally accepted modeling practices.
  • Assisting engineers in developing technical approaches for traffic engineering projects and reviewing technical results prepared by others.
  • Providing training and guidance to junior engineers and interns, sharing your technical proficiency and consultancy skills.

Key qualifications include:

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • Ability to obtain Ohio PE within one year of hire.
  • Experience with Microstation, Bentley OpenRoads, and/or Projectwise.
  • Understanding of traffic analysis tools, including HCS, Transmodeler, Synchro/SimTraffic.
  • Understanding of traffic operations principles, including ITE, OMUTCD, MUTCD, ODOT TEM, AASHTO, and ODOT L&D requirements.
