Position Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled researcher with expertise in machine learning algorithms and their applications in x-ray science. The successful candidate will work on developing and deploying advanced analysis methods to accelerate scientific discovery at our facility.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Developing and implementing machine learning algorithms for x-ray data analysis
  • Collaborating with our multidisciplinary research team to design and deploy new approaches for intelligent learning and autonomous control
  • Evaluating the results of these approaches and disseminating findings through scholarly journals and conferences

Requirements

To qualify for this position, you must have obtained your PhD in computer science or engineering, the physical sciences, or a related field within the last three years. You should possess comprehensive programming proficiency, preferably in Python, and experience with machine learning methods and frameworks, especially applied to physical science problems.

Preferred Experience

Experience with synchrotron light source / x-ray free electron laser experiments, high-performance computing systems, and edge devices would be beneficial. You should also be able to work as part of a team to solve problems of scientific and technological interest to the APS.
