Mental Health Nurse Specialist

As a Mental Health Nurse Specialist at Childrens Hospital Of The Kings Daughter, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to pediatric patients and their families.
About the Role
This position involves working in a fast-paced patient care environment, where you will be responsible for planning, providing, and monitoring individualized psychiatric and medical nursing care. You will work closely with the healthcare team to communicate and collaborate effectively, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and provide individualized psychiatric and medical nursing care following established policies and procedures.
- Perform therapeutic nursing interventions as established by individualized plan of care for preschool, school-age, or adolescent patients and their families.
- Provide developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
Requirements
- Current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license.
- CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
- PALS preferred.
- RN certification preferred.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Must have an Associate's in Nursing/Diploma in Nursing with applicable experience; however, a BSN is preferred.
- Experience in both pediatric medical and psychiatric settings is preferred.
- Pediatric experience is preferred.
Working Conditions
You can expect to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.

Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary of approximately $65,000-$90,000 per year, depending on experience, plus comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
