Executive Assistant to Deputy Commissioner

The Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is a leading organization in the nation's largest and most comprehensive municipal shelter system for homeless adults and families.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Assistant to support the Deputy Commissioner in managing complex calendars, gathering confidential information, and preparing reports.
The ideal candidate will have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, including one year in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty.
The salary for this position is approximately $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate will be able to:
- Manage a highly complex calendar scheduling to support the Deputy Commissioner's requests for meetings with internal and external partners
- Assist the Deputy Commissioner by gathering information/data from directors of various units within the division
- Prepare memos, progress reports, and other special projects/assignments
- Address a broad range and high volume of complex priorities, questions, and issues as they arise from both internal and external business partners

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
