Surgical Physician Assistant

This position is responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a surgical setting. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in medical and surgical principles and be able to work effectively as part of a team to deliver excellent patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients.
Performs physical exams, documents in the medical record, and orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
Assists in the OR by serving as first or second assistant during surgical procedures.
Provides patient care, including completing daily patient care rounds, recording patient medical history and physical assessment, and developing therapeutic care plans.
Communicates with attending physicians regarding plan of care and involves physicians in clinical decision-making as needed.
Educates patients and family members regarding health and illness prevention, medication and treatment instructions, and recommends community resources as needed.
Prepares written prescription orders for drugs as defined in the written agreement between the PA and the supervising physician.
Triage patient telephone calls.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
Current PA Physician Assistant License.
Board eligible PA-C required or board eligible (License and certification required within 90 days of employment).
CPR - American Heart Association certification.
Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
