Program Overview

The Children's National/GWU Neonatal Perinatal Fellowship Program is a three-year, ACGME-accredited fellowship that provides comprehensive clinical and research training in Neonatal Perinatal Medicine.


The Division of Neonatology at Children's National/GWU offers a dynamic and supportive environment for fellows to learn and grow. As a fellow in the program, you will participate in patient care in Labor & Delivery, NICU, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Follow-up Clinic, Cardiac Intensive Care (CICU) and ECMO.


Didactics and other instructional activities such as simulation training, round-table discussions, Neonatology seminars, workshops, journal clubs, and one-on-one teaching are integral to the daily experience. Prerequisites for Training

  • Must have completed 3 years of Pediatric residency in an approved training program
  • Must have 23 letters of recommendation (one of whom must be the chairman or program director of the department where you trained)
  • Must have completed medical school in the U.S. or be ECFMG certified if an international medical graduate
  • Must be successfully able to obtain a District of Columbia unrestricted medical license prior to starting fellowship training
  • Must have successfully passed all three steps of the USMLE
