Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Manager I to join our team at Element Materials Technology. As a key member of our laboratory operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of test results while maintaining a safe and quality-focused work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of approximately 40 employees in a fast-paced laboratory environment, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of daily tasks.
  • Develop and implement safety and quality programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Collaborate with laboratory managers and supervisors to direct, coordinate, and facilitate daily activities, ensuring production goals and customer expectations are met.
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise to support the production and operation of assigned tests, including the operation of various testing equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, both verbally and in writing, to ensure clear understanding of testing capabilities and results.
  • Manage budgets and resources to ensure efficient operation of the laboratory, including inventory management and budgetary reporting.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing, to drive process improvements and enhance laboratory efficiency.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a science or technical-related discipline, or a minimum of 7 years of experience in a management role, preferably with operations management experience in an accelerated-growth organization.
  • At least 5 to 10 years of environmental experience, including organic, inorganic, and metals background.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory safety and current testing capabilities.
  • Proven ability to support and train staff members to meet customer expectations.
  • Strong computer skills and basic mathematical skills, with the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. on occasion, and stand on feet for long periods of time.
