Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Social Worker, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our nation's veterans and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans to address the unique needs of our veterans, including those with chronic and disabling illnesses.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and provide crisis intervention services to ensure the well-being and safety of our veterans.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams to coordinate care and services, including referrals to community resources and non-institutional services.
  • Provide education and support to veterans and their families on available services, entitlements, and resources.
  • Act as an advocate for our veterans, promoting their independence and empowerment.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers, including veterans, family members, and healthcare providers.
Requirements
  • Masters degree in Social Work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
  • Licensure or certification in a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, including veterans with complex medical and mental health needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensure at the independent practice level.
  • Experience working with veterans and their families, particularly those with chronic and disabling illnesses.
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to make appropriate referrals.
