Substance Abuse Counselor

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team at WestCare Foundation. As a key member of our treatment team, you will play a vital role in delivering evidence-based substance abuse treatment services to individuals in a correctional setting.
Key Responsibilities- Administer and interpret screening and assessment tools to identify participant needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Deliver group and individual therapy sessions, utilizing evidence-based modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing.
- Evaluate participant progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and support.
- Document participant progress and maintain accurate records in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
- Master's degree in a related field, such as counseling, psychology, or social work.
- Experience working with substance abuse populations, preferably in a correctional setting.
- Knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities and assessment tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC) or Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC).
- Experience with electronic health records and data management systems.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills, preferably in English and Spanish.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with participants, staff, and stakeholders.
