Job Summary:

The Program Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Human Rights Initiative, including project management, stakeholder outreach, event planning, and administrative support. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in program management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Human Rights Initiative's projects and programs, including grant and budget management, stakeholder outreach, and event planning.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to promote human rights and global security.
  • Represent the Human Rights Initiative vis-à-vis other research programs and functional support offices within CSIS and external stakeholders.
  • Manage external communications, including development and maintenance of contacts databases, responding to donor and partner inquiries, and dissemination of project publications.
  • Contribute to external and internal outreach by developing promotional materials, written materials for the web, and designing strategic communication plans.
  • Manage day-to-day office operations, including program and project finances, and administrative support.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience in program/project management, including budget or grant management.
  • Superior communication skills, good judgment, and ability to anticipate needs.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail, and able to juggle multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from constituency groups, media, governmental entities, and the general public in multiple formats.
Preferred Experience:
  • Graduate-level study of international relations, human rights, or a related field.
  • Experience managing US government grants and projects.
  • Knowledge of US foreign policy, human rights norms, and global issues.
  • Interest in at minimum one of HRI's core focus areas.
