Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Blood Collection Specialist to join our team at Sonora Quest Laboratories. In this role, you will be responsible for the collection and receipt of biological specimens, ensuring their proper entry into our computer system, preparation for analytical testing, and distribution to the appropriate analytical area.

About the Role
This position may be located within a Hospital Facility, Patient Service Center, In-Office Phlebotomy, or Mobile Diagnostic Services location. You will provide coverage at multiple locations, interacting with colleagues and customers in a professional and courteous manner. Your primary focus will be on quality, ensuring all work performed is accurate and complete, and maintaining familiarity with departmental procedures.

Main Responsibilities
  • Collect and process biological specimens from patients, including blood samples, urine, and other bodily fluids.
  • Enter patient demographics, test requests, and other relevant information into our computer system, verifying accuracy and appropriateness of specimens received.
  • Prepare and deliver specimens to the technical area, aliquot and label as required, and perform initial processing and preparation for transport.
  • Maintain quality standards by focusing on accuracy and productivity, adhering to established methods and practices, and participating in departmental initiatives to reduce costs and improve service.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, resolving basic service issues and attending meetings to stay informed about internal/external communications.

Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required, completion of a phlebotomy program or experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of department resource materials and medical terminology an asset.
  • Valid state driver's license and eligibility for company auto insurance coverage (dependent on location).
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime, with occasional on-call duties.
