Job Summary

As a key member of the Sundt team, the Transportation Project Manager will be responsible for providing leadership and management to assigned projects in a safe, profitable, and timely manner. This role requires a strong understanding of construction operations, project management, and preconstruction processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion the orderly transition of projects from the estimating phase to the field, ensuring a thorough review of contract requirements, schedules, budgets, and subcontracts.
  • Manage close-out requirements and punch lists in a timely manner, maintaining owner/client relationships through warranty callbacks.
  • Coordinate with the Project Superintendent to develop means and methods for successful project execution, reviewing and monitoring manpower, equipment, and material resources.
  • Establish a comprehensive project management plan, including scope management, procurement, environmental, time, financial, quality, and safety plans, to ensure successful project execution.
  • Have overall responsibility for project success, including profitability, safety, schedule, quality, and customer satisfaction, as well as personnel decisions that impact the project.
  • Manage all billings to ensure timely submission of payment applications and collection of payments from the owner, maintaining a positive cash flow position.
  • Develop and manage the overall CPM schedule, ensuring coordination with the Project Superintendent and procurement schedule with the Project Engineer.
  • Participate in the preparation and review of estimates, focusing on cost control, equipment requirements, constructability, formwork, materials, manpower, general conditions, schedule, insurance, and other key factors.
  • Participate in business development, including client contacts, relationships, proposals, presentations, and negotiations for selected projects.
  • Prevent claims, identify potential claims, quantify, mitigate, and resolve the effects of those that do occur in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and execute purchase order agreements and subcontracts, ensuring timely preparation and execution of insurance certificates, bonds, and lien waivers.
  • Understand and administer prime contract terms and conditions, contract documents, subcontract agreements, purchase order agreements, insurance, and other key factors, overseeing and ensuring all processes involved in budgeting and controlling costs.
Requirements
  • Experience in preconstruction and managing construction projects.
  • Four-year construction-related degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Thorough knowledge of contract documents, materials, equipment utilization, scheduling systems, productivity analysis, construction operations, and cash flow procedures.
  • Successful history executing projects as the prime point of contact with minimal oversight for project teams.
  • At least three years' experience in this role and ten or more years' experience in operations roles.
