At UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital, we are dedicated to providing state-of-the-art training and assistance to professionals in the field of mental health. We are seeking a dedicated full-time Pschiatric Staff Nurse to join our team in Oakland.

This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse who is passionate about making a positive impact on individuals living with mental illness. As a member of our Comprehensive Recovery Services (CRS) unit, you will work closely with patients diagnosed with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and related psychotic illnesses.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including a generous sign-on bonus. Our starting rate for this position is $31.50 per hour, with opportunities for advancement based on experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing nursing assessments and initial plans of care within 8 hours of patient admission
  • Orienting and educating patients regarding hospitalization
  • Documenting medical records according to established policies
  • Maintaining current knowledge of medication policies and practices

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to participate in interdisciplinary activities, including treatment teams and staff meetings. We encourage continuous learning and professional growth, offering regular in-services and training programs.

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred, but not required. Six months of experience in clinical psychiatry is also desirable.

Apart from the competitive salary of $31.50-$33.00 per hour, the job offers numerous benefits, including a $15,000-$12,500 sign-on bonus for nurses with over/less than one year of experience, respectively.
