Tire Technician

At ALTA Equipment Group, we are seeking a skilled Tire Technician to join our Material Handling Group in Wilmington, MA. As a Tire Technician, you will be responsible for the professional installation of industrial tires on material handling equipment. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Installing tires on various material handling equipment, primarily forklifts
- Safely operating a single axle 26 foot box truck with a self-contained industrial tire press
- Ensuring work orders are filled out correctly
- Putting away tires/stock in the warehouse
- Loading trucks daily with inventory needed, unloading scrap at the end of the day
- Maintaining company trucks (washing/cleaning, checking fluids, daily walk-around inspection)
- Filling out monthly truck inspection/condition forms
- Maintaining a professional appearance
- Incorporating ALTA's Guiding Principles into daily activities
- Performing other duties as assigned
- Consistent, regular, and reliable attendance, including being ready for work at the designated start time
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Previous tire industry experience is preferred
- Experience operating a forklift, hydraulic tire press, pneumatic impact, and torque wrench is preferred
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- A valid Chauffeur's License with a clean driving record is required
- DOT Medical Certification required upon hire
- Language Skills - Basic: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Mathematical Skills - Basic: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
- Reasoning Ability - Intermediate: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Physical Demands/Work Environment
This role requires:
- Physical/Sensory Functions: Regularly will use hands, talk/hear; Frequently will stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; Occasionally will climb or balance, taste/smell
- Vision: No special vision requirements
- Lift and/or Move Functions: Frequently will lift from 25 to 100+ pounds
- Work Environment: Regularly will work near moving mechanical parts, vibration; Frequently will work in outdoor weather conditions; Occasionally will work in wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat (non-weather related), risk of electrical shock
