Construction Project Coordinator

We are seeking a skilled Construction Representative to join our team at the State of Idaho - Department of Administration. As a Construction Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful completion of construction projects across the state. Your expertise will be invaluable in providing critical project reports, ensuring proper accountability, and meeting the expectations of our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review proposed project plans and specifications to verify code requirements;
- Identify construction problems or design errors;
- Schedule and conduct pre-bid conferences to explain state contracting procedures, pre-construction conferences to discuss contract requirements, and coordinate meetings to discuss project progress;
- Coordinate construction activities among property owner, state offices, department, contractors, and design team;
- Monitor state buildings and facilities during active construction to assure compliance with plans and specifications, and building and safety codes;
- Review all aspects of architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical equipment as construction work proceeds;
- Assess building projects and specialized aspects such as roofing systems and asbestos removal to ensure code and contract compliance;
- Develop field reports; Notify design professional of defective work;
- Review and approve construction change authorizations and cost estimates;
- Review project pay requests and recommend disbursement of funds;
- Compile and prepare records and reports;
- Assist in preparing alteration and repair recommendations for departments;
- Assess disaster-related damage to state buildings;
- Other duties as assigned;
Good knowledge of state and local building codes, including International Code Council (ICC) Commercial Building Code, electrical and plumbing codes, and ANSI. Typically met by at least 4 years of experience in the related subject area or at least 2 upper division college courses in the related subject area and at least 2 years of experience or a Bachelor's degree in the subject area. Some knowledge of construction contract administration, construction site development, new construction energy conservation requirements, commercial roofing systems installation and maintenance, and commercial construction, demolition, and remodel procedures. Typically met by at least 2 college courses in the subject area or at least 6 months of experience in the subject area. Experience in utilizing commercial construction and repair practices, materials, and equipment, coordinating and monitoring construction projects, inspecting and insuring compliance with codes and contracts of commercial building contracts, and reading commercial blueprints and interpreting plans and specifications. Typically met by at least 6 months of experience in the subject area. A valid driver's license is required. The successful candidate will be required to pass a fingerprint-based background check. This position will also interact with a diverse customer base and must be able to interact in a non-partisan manner when working in political environments.
