Job Summary

The Senior Associate Director-Research will lead the Epidemiology, Research and Innovation (ERI) unit of the Carter Center's River Blindness, Lymphatic Filariasis, Schistosomiasis and Malaria Programs (RB/LF/SCH/ML). This role will oversee the development, design and implementation of surveys and operational research to support disease elimination.

The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree in a field related to area of research and seven years of related experience at a senior level, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervising the ERI unit and conducting program monitoring and evaluation activities
  • Developing, designing and implementing surveys and operational research to support disease elimination
  • Overseeing the development of research projects, including proposal development and partner relationship-building
  • Managing research project budgets and supervising technical and support staff
  • Leading unit team meetings and assisting in planning, coordinating and executing workshops, program reviews and other meetings
