Job Summary:

The HVAC Field Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the installation of residential HVAC equipment and accessories. This role ensures that work meets builder needs and conducts quality-control checks on completed work. As needed, the supervisor may perform service, maintenance, and installation work under the direction of the General Manager or Production Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of subcontractor craftsmen, including installers and helpers.
  • Regularly inspect job sites to verify readiness for HVAC rough-in and trim installations.
  • Coordinate installation dates with the scheduling team and ensure jobs are ready for installation.
  • Verify that work is completed according to schedule and quality standards.
  • Ensure schedule compliance and completion of assigned work by subcontractor installation crews.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and the office regarding punch lists or repairs as needed.
  • Review subcontractor invoices and approve them after work is complete.
  • May schedule inspections with local jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate and complete paperwork for billable change orders found in the field.
  • Meet with builder supervisors on job sites to resolve issues with installations or design.
  • Manage production-related issues with homebuilders in the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Build relationships with builder superintendents and foster long-term partnerships.
  • Ensure employees attend required training.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve results and effectiveness.
  • Provide regular performance updates and recommendations to senior management.
  • Provide leadership to designated teams through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication.
  • Address performance issues and provide constructive feedback and consequences as needed.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of HVAC installation experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Proven track record of effectively managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Beg/Intermediate computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Must be able to communicate in English effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to work overtime with little notice; weekend hours may occasionally be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience as a field supervisor in residential new construction or related experience.
  • Multi-family HVAC installation experience.
  • Completed college coursework.

Working Conditions:
  • Majority of time spent in a field environment (hot attics, crawl spaces, uneven terrain, construction sites, and finished homes).
  • Travel by vehicle to and from work locations.
  • Regularly exposed to construction environments involving equipment, elevated work areas, confined spaces, noise, dust, hazardous materials, and odors.
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold, and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to drive and operate a motorized passenger vehicle or forklift.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Frequently performs tasks requiring climbing, bending at the waist, crawling, kneeling, crouching.
  • Must be able to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work on platforms/scaffolding (using the appropriate fall protection requirements).
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, masks/respirators, reflective safety vests, gloves, and safety toe, construction-grade work boots.
  • Must be able to adhere to long periods of standing, walking, or sitting.
  • Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds to operate phones or other equipment safely.
  • With natural or corrected vision, able to see and focus for close, distance, peripheral vision with normal depth perception.
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to others.
  • Ability to enter text or data into a computer by means of a traditional keyboard or 10-key numeric keypad.
  • Must be able to use arms and hands to reach overhead, signal, grab, hold, lift, turn, push, and pull objects and tools.
