Regional Engineering Director

At Clark Dietz, a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm with offices across the Midwest, we are seeking an experienced engineering leader to join our team as Area Manager for Kentucky.
Key Responsibilities- We are looking for a seasoned professional to oversee business and technical operations in Kentucky, focusing on growth and expansion.
- The ideal candidate will collaborate with sales staff to identify and develop pursuit strategies for clients and projects, including teaming with other firms and sub-consultants.
- This role will also involve working with marketing staff to promote our brand and services within Kentucky.
- Strong relationships with municipal clients, private developers, and state agencies are essential for success in this position.
- The Area Manager will be responsible for project performance and oversight of planning, design, and construction services for various civil and environmental engineering projects and clients.
- This individual will identify staffing needs and skills gaps and work with HR to attract top talent.
- The role requires attention to detail in areas such as workload forecasting, QA/QC, billing, and invoicing, ensuring alignment with company guidelines.
- Collaboration with project managers is crucial for managing project scope, client requests, and developing corrective action plans when necessary.
- Mentoring staff and facilitating coaching and development activities are key aspects of this role.
- Participating in professional organizations and events will help advance the firm's image and build relationships with clients, prospects, and partners.
- As office manager, this individual will oversee facility maintenance, leases, and local events.
- A B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required; a KY PE license is highly desirable.
- 10+ years of experience managing pursuits and projects for public or private sector civil engineering projects is essential.
- A deep understanding of the Kentucky market for engineering services, including public agencies and private development, is critical for identifying current and future needs, funding sources, and entry points.
- The ability to build strong relationships as a trusted advisor with potential clients and partners in Kentucky is vital for growing the practice within the state.
- Experience with the planning, design, and construction of local roads, water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and drainage projects is necessary.
- Project management skills, including project scoping, schedule, budget development, and QA/QC, are essential.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to make public presentations and lead internal initiatives and staff meetings, are required.
- A valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the area are necessary.
