Job Summary

The Vice President of Human Resources will lead the day-to-day HR operations at our distribution center, overseeing a team of 12 HR professionals who support approximately 2500 employees. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of improving HR systems, recruitment, retention, employee engagement, and managing a large team across various departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of HR professionals in their day-to-day duties, supporting employees and management in matters related to workers' compensation, medical leave, accommodation requests, safety, and policy adherence.
  • Design and execute effective recruitment and retention strategies to meet high-volume staffing needs, enhancing policies and procedures to streamline time-consuming tasks while delivering value-added results.
  • Partner closely with operation teams in employee relations, employee engagement, management training, recruiting, cultural initiatives, and more.
  • Translate DC environment vision, provide expert advice and coaching to employees and management, and have a solution-oriented approach to solving complex matters.
  • Work collaboratively with the legal team in evaluating complex employment matters, including worker's compensation, wage and hour law compliance, DOL wage order compliance, and safety.
  • Implement ongoing training, mentorship, and manager-level programs to develop talent within the organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, required.
  • 15+ years of relevant human resources experience, with at least 5 years in a people leadership role within a large distribution center environment.
  • Experience working with both exempt and non-exempt populations, as well as comfort working with staffing firms and diverse management teams.
  • Fashion, retail, or consumer products background is highly desirable.
  • Ability to come up with creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Strong understanding of California labor laws, prior experience with wage and hour, leave and accommodation requests under the ADA and state counterpart laws, and worker's compensation matters.
  • Ability to draft well-structured, complete, and concise communications.
  • Roll-up-sleeves style with an ability to get in the weeds as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and quality control.
