**Job Overview:**

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Part-Time Human Resources Specialist to join our team at Our Companions Animal Rescue and Sanctuary. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for assisting with various HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and record keeping.

Salary: $25-$28 hourly, commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment and Onboarding:
    • Assist with job postings, initial screening of candidates, and scheduling interviews in partnership with hiring managers and leadership as needed.
    • Manage new hire onboarding, including orientation and HR-related training.
  • Employee Relations:
    • Serve as a point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and HR-related inquiries.
    • Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and employee benefits.
    • Support conflict resolution and employee mediation when necessary.
  • Compliance and Record Keeping:
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including maintaining employee records and files.
    • Assist with the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
    • Manage background checks, employment verifications, and other compliance-related activities.
    • Maintain HR databases and records with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Payroll and Benefits Administration:
    • Assist with payroll processing and ensure timely and accurate compensation for employees.
    • Manage benefits enrollment process, assist employees with their selections, and administer the benefits programs.
  • HR Strategy and Planning:
    • Provide input on HR policies and practices to improve workplace culture and employee satisfaction.
    • Stay current on HR trends and best practices to recommend improvements.
    • Perform periodic HR policy reviews, coordinating updates and communicating changes to all employees.
  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
    • 2 years of experience in an HR role, ideally within a non-profit organization.
    • Strong knowledge of Connecticut and Federal employment laws and regulations.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
    • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
    • Proficiency with Bamboo HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • HR certification such as Society for Human Resource Management-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR).
