Eligibility Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Eligibility Specialist to join our team at Henrico County Virginia. As an Eligibility Specialist, you will play a critical role in determining the eligibility of individuals and families for various public assistance programs.
Key Responsibilities- Determine Eligibility: Assess the eligibility of individuals and families for public assistance programs, including SNAP, Medicaid, TANF, and General Relief.
- Manage Caseload: Manage a full caseload of clients, including those requiring advanced program knowledge.
- Conduct Interviews: Conduct interviews and assessments of clients to identify appropriate programs and assistance.
- Exercise Judgment: Routinely exercise independent judgment to make accurate determinations and recommendations for complex eligibility and services.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Collaborate with other Human Services Specialists, services staff, and stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of services.
- Education: A four-year degree in a relevant human services field of study.
- Experience: One year of relevant work experience in public assistance and benefit programs, or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Skills: Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and strong computer skills.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing public assistance programs, and fluency in Spanish is desired.
This is a full-time position that requires a flexible schedule as needed. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and maintain confidentiality of client information.
