Diesel Mechanic

We are currently hiring a skilled Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic in Hazleton, PA to perform mechanical repairs and ensure proper performance and safety of our equipment. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining diesel and gasoline equipment operations by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; keeping records.
The ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge of all tools and equipment required to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair possible problems. This is a full-time, hourly position with a competitive salary range of $28.00-$30.00 per hour depending on experience. Pay can be negotiable with the right amount of industry experience.

Job Responsibilities- Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts
- Keeps equipment available for use by field personnel by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing components and part upgrades
- Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems
- Tunes, adjusts, regulates equipment engines, valves, pumps, carburetors and other mechanical components with variable setting
- Lubricates and services vehicles, equipment or machinery and maintains accurate record of such service
- Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems
- Follows federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards
- Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting; participate in shop housekeeping to ensure a safe work environment
- Contains costs by using potential warranty, evaluating service, and parts options
- Maintain up to date job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
- High school diploma or technical/vocational school; or minimum 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Proficient with Microsoft office products; familiar with PC keyboards and data entry
- Must successfully pass a drug test and meet federal DOT requirements
