Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

As a CT Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in assisting physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries. Under the direction of the Imaging Services Director and Chief of Diagnostic Imaging, you will perform radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures to produce high-quality images of the body.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures.
- Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
- Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified areas of the body.
- Determine exposure factors based on patient height, weight, and the portion of the body involved.
- Operate mobile radiologic equipment in operating rooms, emergency rooms, or at patients' bedsides.
- Assist radiologists and other qualified physicians in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.
- Prepare images for reading by radiologists or requesting physicians.
- Process images and review for proper identification and quality control.
- Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on radiologic equipment.
- Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
- Complete forms and maintain records, logs, and reports of work performed.
- Orient new hires and train students.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of experience in a Specialty (CT) or one year of experience in a Specialty with an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification in that Specialty.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate (California).
- Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California).
- Basic Life Support.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to perform all general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic duties on patients of all ages.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to effectively present information to individuals and groups with varying knowledge of Radiology services.
