Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Director to lead our Major Gifts team on the West Coast and Midwest regions. As a key leader in this critical region, you will be responsible for developing strategic opportunities to engage existing and prospective major donors.

This role requires exceptional fundraising skills, including comprehensive management of major gifts prospects, and experience in enlisting senior level leadership volunteers and committees. You will also collaborate with Development & Alumni Relations stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach to engaging BU's leading prospects and donors.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of directly related experience, including 5+ years of management experience, and a proven track record of building and developing a high-level portfolio. A strong development background, excellent written and oral communication skills, and superb judgment are essential for success in this role.

About the Role
  • Direct solicitation of major gifts at the $100,000 plus level, involving all phases of engagement and cultivation processes.
  • Direct management of team member(s) to ensure significant fundraising productivity.
  • Establish and maintain Regional Leadership Councils and other effective volunteer structures.
  • Collaborate with Development & Alumni Relations colleagues to devise strategies for the successful solicitation of individuals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree, advanced degree preferred.
  • Strong development credentials, including a proven track record of building and developing a high-level portfolio.
  • Successful track record of managing a fundraising team.
  • Effective experience in enlisting senior level leadership volunteers and committees.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Superb judgment and ability to adjudicate wisely among competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently as well collaboratively with team members.

Salary: The estimated salary for this position is between $140,000 and $180,000, depending on experience.
