Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Business Development Representative to join our team at Grainwell Puffed Grains. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for driving sales of our ingredients and finished products to the food and pet food industries.

Your primary focus will be on researching and identifying new business opportunities, building relationships with key decision makers, and providing customized ingredient solutions to meet the needs of our clients.

In this role, you will work closely with our VP of Sales & Marketing to develop and implement sales strategies that meet and exceed assigned sales targets. You will also be responsible for consistently contacting and following up with clients to promote food ingredients and finished product sales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the U.S. and Canadian markets
  • Research and network within the food industry to identify leads and prospects
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with potential clients
  • Provide recommendations on suitable Grainwell ingredient solutions
  • Conduct presentations and demonstrations to showcase Grainwell capabilities
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with clients

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in Food Science, Business, or a related field (Bachelor preferred)
  • Sales experience in the food industry, particularly in ingredients or B2B sales, is a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and ask good questions, listen, and summarize answers
  • Negotiation and closing abilities
  • Customer-focused with the ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Knowledge of food science, ingredient functionality, and food processing technologies
  • Ability to work independently
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM tools, and other sales-related software
