Flexible scheduling throughout the fall and spring. Positions are available for short durations, ranging from weekend programs to week-long sessions. Typically, work occurs from Thursday evening or Friday evening through Sunday mid-day, with some programs scheduled during the week from Sunday to Thursday, depending on specific program needs.

General Shift Hours

12 hours per day

Minimum Salary

Initial compensation for staff (Teachers and Cultural Assistants) ranges from $100 to $400 (stipend) per program. Compensation for Concordia College students and certain out-of-state staff will be hourly, aligned with stipend rates or in accordance with Concordia College policies.

Job Summary/Basic Function

Nestled in the North Woods of Minnesota, Concordia Language Villages fosters an environment that is both culturally rich and uniquely engaging. Within the Language Villages, every aspect, from the music to the dining experience, reflects the diverse cultures represented. We are a collective of educators from around the globe, dedicated to fostering learning at every opportunity. Our mission is to cultivate courageous global citizens through immersive language and cultural experiences.

General Expectations of All Staff:

  • Understand and adhere to Concordia Language Villages' Personnel Policies.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all staff and participants.
  • Foster collegial relationships among all staff, including support personnel, to create a productive working environment that aligns with the mission of the Language Villages.
  • Communicate in the target language with participants and colleagues as much as possible.

Program Responsibilities

  • Collaborate effectively with your language community group to enhance and implement a robust language and cultural program.

Operations/Program Support

  • Act as a steward of your Language Village site, its resources, and its relationships.
  • Oversee the general operations of your Language Villages program.

Public Relations

  • Serve as an ambassador for your program and Concordia Language Villages.
  • Represent the Concordia Language Villages program and philosophy as requested by the directors and as part of Concordia College.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficiency in the target language and English, at an intermediate level or higher.
  • Experience working with learners in the relevant age groups (programs available for school groups, families, and adults).
  • Skills in related cultural or recreational areas.
  • Current US work authorization is required.
  • Willingness to travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching licensure or relevant experience is preferred for certain roles but not mandatory.
  • Previous experience with Concordia Language Villages or similar experiential learning environments is preferred.
