Job Title: Body Shop Assistant/Detailer

A key member of our team, the Body Shop Assistant/Detailer will play a crucial role in ensuring our vehicles meet the highest standards of quality and appearance. As a detailer, you will be responsible for preparing vehicles for painting, inspecting for damage, and cleaning and preparing surfaces to meet preparation criteria.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare vehicles for painting under the guidance of our experienced painters
  • Inspect vehicles for damage and clean/prepare surfaces to meet preparation criteria
  • Remove masking material, clean, and inspect for any defects or imperfections
  • Ensure completed work meets quality standards
  • Perform minor repairs as necessary to ensure quality standards are met
  • Maintain and properly safeguard all shop painting/spraying tools and equipment
  • Work safely and comply with all safety rules, particularly those dealing with working in confined spaces or in service pits
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and safe storage room, mixing room, and work area
  • Use shop equipment and tools safely and wear required personal protective equipment
  • Dispose of paints, paint containers, and any hazardous wastes properly
  • Report all accidents immediately
  • Support cross-training efforts through periodically working in the body shop
  • Actively participate in department and company-wide continuous improvement efforts

  • The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential responsibilities of this job

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions
