Job Title: Speech Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Therapist to join our team at the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. As a Speech Therapist, you will be responsible for promoting and maintaining health by providing speech therapy services.

Job Summary

The Speech Therapist will work strategically and cooperatively in a team environment with all levels of professional, technical, and administrative staff. This includes collaborating with Physical Therapy Manager and patients to order equipment necessary for patient safety and optimum function.

Responsibilities
  • Identify the need for and make recommendations for referrals to other disciplines.
  • Develop and implement a system for reporting, measuring, and supporting treatment plans.
  • Maintain legal and accreditation compliance by adhering to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in education opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Coordinate patient care with other clinical team members ensuring optimal patient care and communication as noted in the clinical record.
  • Promote effective working relations and work effectively as part of department/unit team inter- and intra-departmentally to facilitate the department's ability to meet goals and objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the appropriate person.
Requirements
  • Graduate degree required.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) required.
  • Current licensure as a Speech Therapist in the State of Alabama required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Speech Therapist required.
  • Experience working with diverse patient population preferred.
  • Must maintain current professional licensure in Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain licensure within ninety (90) days of date of hire.
  • Must possess certification of "Mandatory Reporter Training" or obtain certification during the first week of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Absolute confidentiality, adhering to HIPAA guidelines and the Privacy Act.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computers and electronic health records, with the ability to work in a Windows environment with various software programs such as Microsoft Office software and etc.
  • Competence in the delivery of skilled speech therapy services and knowledge of the scope of practice for a speech therapist.
  • Ability to maintain strenuous daily pace with overlapping schedule subject to multiple demands and interruptions.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Must be in good physical condition with the ability to regularly stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and regularly lift and/or move at least 50 pounds.
  • Must be people oriented and relate well to people from diverse backgrounds.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed; flexible in regards to accommodating emergency visits as needed.
  • Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
  • Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
  • Ability to adequately and successfully perform all duties and responsibilities of this position.
